Maria Montessori said,” Play is the work of the child.” Our children explore their world, discipher the adult world around them and envision a better world as they play. As parents and teachers, we can provide children with toys that allow them to build and un-build, to create worlds that resemble the world around them, as well as worlds which are full of imaginary creatures and fantasy experiences. The toys we chose for children can help them learn to move their bodies, prepare them for grand adventures and success with literacy, science, engineering and so much more!
It is my priveledge and joy to comb through all of the available toys to select an assortment for our little stores that encourage children to joyfully engage in their work: creative play. In our stores, you will find puppets, building materials and other toys that foster creativity. You will find rubbery, velvety, squishy, spikey or suction cup toys that give small hands unique sensory experiences. There are also science kits and books that help children explore the world around them and discover how and why things work the way they do.
We have toys that make sounds, toys that light up, and even toys designed for the child who still needs to chew. We recognize that each child is different, and strive to carry an assortment of items that can meet the needs of those children who have special needs, such as autism or physical impairment. You will also find an assortment of games that help children build skills while playing together with family or friends.
As the time of year approaches where we begin to look for those special holiday gifts for the children in our lives, please keep in mind the importance of play for a child’s development.
